This house is on a beautiful lot in Washington township MI.  Despite the large size, the lot posed many design challenges. The property abuts a state park, with a large setback, to the north and a pond to the south. The owners one major request was to be able to experience the lake from the kitchen area, where they would spend most of their time.  KA’s solution was to position the house in a way that the kitchen/ hearth room area could experience the pond while the rest of the house could capture other views of the site.  The concept was to have the house shield the lake as one drives up then have it revealed once inside the house.
